LCD-technologies

We can supply custom displays in the following technologies:

  • TN positive / negative
  • HTN
  • STN yellow mode, blue mode, neutral (grey) mode
  • FSTN positive / negative
  • DSTN
  • ESTN


LCDs are available in transmissive, transflective and reflective versions.

The following connector technologies are available for LCD panels:

  • Zebra strip
  • Pin connectors
  • Heat seal


Custom LCD production starts to make business sense from an annual volume of around 1,000 units and panel dimensions of approx. 20 x 30 mm. Depending on whether the external dimensions of the desired display are larger or smaller than these reference values, manufacturers require larger or smaller minimum order volumes.

In the manufacture of custom LCD panels, a proportion of tooling costs is also charged to the customer. The precise amount varies depending on the manufacturer and LCD technology used.

Typical lead times in the production of custom LCDs are:

  • Countersignature of order: approx. 2 weeks after customer’s submission of order.
  • Prototype: approx. 6 weeks after customer’s approval of countersignature
  • Series production: approx. 10 weeks after customer’s approval of prototype
